In Celebration of the Female Experience
Scenic City Burlesque is a woman centered collective that promotes enjoyment, kindness and empowerment through the arts, especially that of dance. Our goal is to provide a safe space for women to celebrate life, gather and grow. We strive to nuture real connections, honor authenticity, and create a sisterhood and community rooted in trust, compassion and purpose. All while dancing, and having a damn good time doing it.
Our Story through Dance
"A little party never killed nobody, we're gonna dance until we drop"..
We're pretty sure thats how the song goes. And, to Us, Parties are so important! They boost motivation, build self esteem, reduce stress, strengthen relationships and create a sense of accomplishment through the acknowledgement of hard work and lifes turning points.
So, we started with one class, then the class became a party, Then the party
became parties, celebrating the important milestones in womens lives.
Then, all the parties became lots of classes and the classes became a troupe of women dancing and performing together. And with every step of the way we danced and welcomed the
CELEBRATION.
So, Why Dance? Of all the things people could do together in a group? Dance has been a part of human culture since before the earliest civilazations, and its origins are as diverse as the cultures that practice it. So, no history lesson here, but dance is a way to strengthen bonds and communicate. At SCENIC CITY BURLESQUE, we embrace the history and importance of dance and add the equally impotant elments of self expression, empowerment, and sisterhood!
